Updates in the life of BK
I know I shouldn't apologise for not blogging, because I have perfectly valid reasons for being absent, but I can't help it...sorry for not posting! Life is complicated - last night I spent 90 minutes or so wrestling with just 4 lines of poetry, or one stanza, attempting to get at its meaning, only to discover that I've still (partly) missed the point of it in the tutorial today. Isn't that depressing?
Actually, I'm not all that depressed, considering that I start working on my extended essay tomorrow. The extended essay counts as one of my Finals papers. Basically, I'll get the list of questions tomorrow, and have 3 weeks to write a 6000 word essay. During that time, I'm barred from making any contact with my tutor. Basically, I become like a graduate student, doing the research and writing the essay all on my own. At the beginning of the term it sounded daunting, but that's no longer the case, if anything, there's a worry that 6000 words might not be enough! I'm working on the poetics (that's the philosophy of literature) of Emily Dickinson, which probably accounts for the proliferation of Dickinson poems you've seen recently on this blog.
I've got a cough that's becoming a bit of a worry, it's been around for more than 2 weeks now. Not sure what I should do about it. It's not particularly bad, but it's lingering around like an annoying brother (no offense to annoying brothers). I'm away this weekend as well, going on a mini-retreat with the CU, which should be good.
OK, that's it for the moment. Will attempt more substantial posts soon.
